Your generous contribution will support scholarships. Joe’s Movement Emporium is the largest provider of affordable children’s programming in the Gateway Arts District. More than 300 young people participate each week in dance, music, and other arts classes as well as in several youth initiatives.
This past year, Joe’s Movement Emporium began a partnership with the family of Martie Evans-Charles, a former local playwright and educator. The fruits of this partnership included the launch of the Martie Evans-Charles Memorial Scholarship Fund. Annual pay-out from this restricted fund bolsters scholarship services for any eligible child seeking to enroll in dance class.
Your generous support will help our programs to grow. Summer Arts Camps have tripled in attendance over the past two years. Scholarship requests have also doubled and been met. Furthermore, Joe’s has become the largest employer of teens in Mount Rainier.
Your generous support will allow us to offer diverse programs for all ages and experience levels. Thanks to many loyal contributors, Joe’s now serves four times the number of students, artists, and patrons than it did five years ago. Joe’s is home to 27 regional artists and performers whose programs have taken root in an area largely populated by families of low- to moderate-incomes. As a result, Joe’s is a cornerstone of neighborhood revitalization through programs reflecting a live-well, be-well ethic.
Your generous support will continue this momentum. Even in these economic times, Joe’s is important to our community as an employer and director service provider. Therefore, your gift will keep our programs available to many people.
Joe’s is registered as a soliciting organization with the Maryland Office of the Secretary of State. Copies of documents submitted under Maryland Charitable Solicitations Act are available from the State. Joe’s is also listed in the Catalogue for Philanthropy.
