Taratibu Youth Association for ages 8 - 11!

Joe’s Movement Emporium’s Artist Partner Program includes two incredible pre-professional dance groups Taratibu Youth Association and Katherine Smith Contemporary Dance Ensemble.

We’re happy to share that Taratibu Youth Association (TYA) is starting a new company for youth 8 to 11 years old. Please see below for more information from TYA:

We are looking for 6 to 8 youth to create a new TYA junior company.

This is a great opportunity for young people to experience and learn African and African American history and culture. They will learn to sing in various African languages, traditional African dances, and poetry; all while developing leadership skills, a strong work ethic and team building. 

TYA's mission: To provide a transformative experience, through the performing arts, for the youth of the African diaspora. 

TYA is a vibrant, unique, culturally relevant and highly disciplined performing arts company.  Youth are welcome to come and have a growing experience like no other in the DMV area!

Auditions are Saturday, November 9, 2019, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Joe's Movement Emporium, 3309 Bunker Hill Road, Mt Rainier, MD 20712.  Youth must have a song, poem/or monologue and movement prepared.  Each piece cannot exceed one minute.
