Freedom Festival Dance Auditions with Angel Chinn

Seeking dancers to perform for the inaugural Freedom Festival at Joe’s Movement Emporium on October 15, 2022. Looking for diverse movement practitioners of all backgrounds and ethnicities. Must be available for bi-weekly rehearsals on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Dancers should be open to collaborate and contribute to the creative process. A performance stipend will be provided.

Choreographer: Angel Chinn

Angel Chinn studied at Morgan State University and The University of Maryland Baltimore County where she earned a BA in Dance and Performance. She completed her Master’s degree of Fine Arts in Dance at Hollins University 2020. Angel founded NonaLee Dance Theatre (NLDT) in May 2011. The company strives to create socially conscious work that challenges, enlightens and entertains audiences through a movement experience. Through the company Angel has created full evening length works Nuclear Quest in 2013, Awake in 2014, Look Up 2016, and Dopamine Dreams in 2019. NLDT has been presented around the NYC and Washington DC metropolitan areas.  Angel has worked as an educator since 2013 with the aim towards creative, independent thinking and humility through the art of dance. As a performer, Angel has worked with choreographers Shani Collins-Achille, Lindsey Dietz Marchent, Kathleen Fisher, Mark Dendy, Candace Franklin, Nathan Trice, Joya Powell, Adia Whitaker, and Edisa Weeks.
