A history panel including  Brentwood and North Brentwood leaders will discuss the evolution and history of race relations, area segregationist practices, and divisions between the two communities.

The panelists will discuss the hidden and not so hidden racist architecture in land use policy, revealing the truth about North Brentwood and the difficult obstacles people of color had to overcome to experience equal rights and opportunities to own land and property.

Racially restrictive covenants were part of the segregationist practice and strategy of redlining. Research to date has revealed surprising new connections and associations between significant property owners and local makers of many of the racially restrictive covenants in this area.
