You are invited to Joe’s On Stage Performance Series on Saturday, May 29th at 7:00 pm featuring Rebecca Wahls in her one woman show “Joe”.

This show will be livestreamed on Joe’s Youtube Channel.

This one-person show, "Joe," is an exploration of primary sources left by my grandfather, Joseph Badi. It's a conversation with a man I never met, a way to unpack parallel histories. Born in 1910 in Kuty, Poland, Joe lived through both World Wars, and survived the Holocaust, eventually migrating to Palestine and finally New York City. On the cusp of turning 30, we both see our nations on the verge of collapse. His did.

I am developing a one-person piece that is an exploration of my heritage as a Jewish-American, third generation descendant of a Holocaust survivor.- Quote from Rebecca Wahls.

About Rebecca Wahls

I’m Rebecca Wahls, and I direct theatre, new media, and film. Originally from Williamsburg, VA, I’m currently based in between Washington, DC and Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, PA where I am pursuing my MFA in Directing as a John Wells Directing Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University.

As a director, my job is to serve as a catalyst for the creation of community and am in constant pursuit of a true ensemble of performers, a unified audience, and the synthesis of these two essential groups. I lead with radiance, and a joyful rehearsal room is a top priority. I am interested in stories that center women and show us in all of our triumph and imperfection. I love new plays, myth, and music. My leadership style is rooted in the principle of “yes, and” - what will we make together?

My explorations in new media storytelling begin in 2018 with Midnight Tracks, a new play by Zachary Wilcox with music and lyrics by Justin Sumblin, which is available exclusively on Who What Where’s mobile app. In 2020, writing partner Rebecca Ballinger and I co-created the socially distant comedy web series Rebecca and Becca in Space, lauded as “sketch comedy worthy of SNL, except you don’t have to sit through the boring parts.” As a part of CMU’s annual Playground festival of independent student work, I created Memory Card with playwright Alec Seymour, a 20-minute fully live digital horror piece.
