About Rebekah D. Mason
Rebekah D. Mason is thrilled to make her Joe’s Movement Emporium debut with her first one-woman show. She thanks the Joe's team, especially Jeniffer and Noni, for their support and their commitment to keep making meaningful art happen during the pandemic. Rebekah is an advocate, actor, and a writer. Her clients inspired her over the ten years she practiced law; she dedicates this to their impact on her life. Rebekah believes in the power of creating art to support and build community. She studies acting and playwriting with Martin Blank—who continues to show Rebekah she can do this. She is grateful to be directed again by Victoria Glock-Molloy, a fellow artist and advocate. Rebekah has been fortunate to do creative things with the MTC Adventure Theatre Company and the Theatre Lab, The Coil Project, Dog and Pony DC, DC Arts Center, Peter’s Alley Theatre Productions, and the Montgomery Playhouse.
Rebekah studied Sociology and Theatre at the University of Houston and law at Western Michigan’s Thomas M. Cooley School of Law. Rebekah first coordinated Lone Star Legal Aid's veteran advocacy project for Texas veterans with low incomes before joining Legal Counsel for the Elderly to coordinate their Veterans Advocacy Project. She helped DC senior veterans and surviving spouses access healthcare and financial benefits. Rebekah is a healthcare policy advocate, fighting so seniors have access to quality and affordable healthcare. She particularly enjoys breaking down disparities for communities of color. She is a proud Chicana from Texas City, Texas. Rebekah lives in Wheaton, MD.
If today’s show inspired you to help veterans, please consider a tax-deductible donation to Legal Counsel for the Elderly’s Veterans Advocacy Project.
