Ally Theatre Company and playwright Doug Robinson will present the first public reading of Robinson’s original script, Welcome to Sis’s, humbly reconstructing and reimagining the story of Sis’s Tavern in North Brentwood. The play takes place during the 1920-30s and explores the meaning of community, the commonplace, and how it was shaped through racial segregation. After the live reading, the audience will have a chance to get to know the actors and the director during an open Q&A panel discussion. Refreshments will be provided, as well as a historical photo album and slideshow created by Hyattsville Community Development Corporation.
