The 2022 Juneteenth Festival will commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. We are also celebrating the HB 227 bill which establishes Juneteenth National Independence Day as a State legal holiday and State employee holiday. We are excited to gather the community drum circle, farmers’ market, poetry performances, genealogy resources, and family-friendly activities.

Hundreds of enslaved Black residents of Prince George's County challenged slavery in the courts between the late 1700s and early 1800s. Learn from distinguished legal experts about the judicial system that enabled them to courageously fight for freedom even when they lacked agency and basic human rights.
